Minneapolis has a long ceramic tradition tied to the Northern Clay Center, which remains the anchor of the scene. Studios today are spread across Northeast Minneapolis (the historic arts district), Powderhorn, Whittier, and along Lake Street, with additional studios in St. Paul. Prices are friendly: intro classes from $45, six-week courses from $250-375. The community is craft-serious thanks to NCC's influence, but beginner-friendly intro nights and date-night sessions are easy to find at the smaller neighborhood studios. Kiln-share, member shelves, and longer-term residencies are unusually well-developed for a city this size. Kids programs are available year-round at NCC and several neighborhood studios. For serious study, NCC and the Northeast studios offer the deepest curricula.
