Chicago has a long pottery tradition rooted in the Hyde Park Art Center and Lillstreet Art Center, both of which still anchor the scene. Studios today cluster in Logan Square, Pilsen, West Town, and along the north side from Andersonville to Ravenswood. Prices are mid-market: intro classes from $55, six-week courses around $325-475. Lillstreet and other large multi-craft studios offer the deepest curricula, with wheel, hand-building, glazing, and kiln-firing tracks. Smaller neighborhood studios fill the date-night and drop-in niche. Kids and family classes are easy to find, especially on the north side. If you want progression past intro, look at the older multi-disciplinary studios; if you just want one evening of wheel time, the Logan Square and West Town studios are the easy pick.
