Pottery studios in Milwaukee, Wisconsin

Milwaukee's pottery scene is concentrated in Bay View, Riverwest, the Third Ward, and Walker's Point, with additional studios in Wauwatosa and Shorewood. Prices are friendly: drop-in classes from $40, six-week courses from $225-325. The community is craft-serious thanks to the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design and University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee ceramics programs, with several studios offering rigorous wheel curricula and visiting-artist workshops. Memberships with kiln access are widely available. Hand-building and wheel throwing are both well-covered, with multi-level progression at the larger studios.
