Pottery studios in Burlington, Vermont

Burlington's pottery scene punches well above its weight for a city of 45,000, anchored by a long Vermont craft tradition and a tight community of working potters. Studios cluster downtown, in the South End Arts District, and out along Pine Street. Prices are mid-market: drop-in classes from $50, six-week courses from $275-425. The community is craft-serious thanks to UVM and Burlington College roots, with several studios offering rigorous wheel curricula, wood and soda firings, and member kiln-share programs. Memberships with kiln access are widely available but waitlisted at the popular South End studios. Date-night and drop-in classes are common downtown. Kids programs run year-round at the community art centers. For serious students, Burlington offers progression most cities its size cannot match and deep exposure to the broader Vermont ceramics network.
