Chattanooga's pottery scene runs through the Southside, North Shore, downtown, and out in St. Elmo and the Northshore districts. Prices are unusually friendly: drop-in classes from $35, six-week courses from $200-300. The community draws on the broader Southern Appalachian craft tradition and connections to Sewanee and UTC ceramics, with several studios offering multi-level wheel curricula at prices well below the coasts. Memberships with kiln access are widely available and affordable. Hand-building drops in easily; wheel throwing usually requires the intro class first. Date-night and drop-in classes are common in the Southside and North Shore. Kids programs run year-round at the community art centers. For longer study, the Southside and North Shore studios have the deepest multi-level progression.
